Several months ago, I started writing a story for the first time since English class way back when. I've had some ideas for stories that were interesting to me for a long time, but never took the time to flesh them out and write them down. I regularly do collective storytelling through TTRPGs with friends, but that's not exactly the same thing. I began writing the story I'd had in my head for years once I realized that there would be some interesting consequences of the scenario I'd created.
My wife and son left town for a week and I busied myself with the story, writing most of it during that time. Once a draft was done, I shared it with friends and continued to improve it. I thoroughly enjoyed the writing process. And it felt great to create something that other people were enjoying! So I decided to publish it and put the story out in the world for other people to experience if they'd like.
I've started writing two more stories that I'm excited about. I'm not in a rush to finish them, but I'm enjoying myself as I do so. I'm also planning out a nonfiction book based on my doctoral studies on School Board governance. Will anyone else like what I'm writing? I have no idea. But this is an enjoyable creative project for me and I'll probably keep it up so long as it stays fun.
I'm creating this website and launching it along with my first self-publication. I'll use it to highlight my work and connect with anyone who wants to discuss what I've written. I looked into having the story published through an established publisher, but the long process of the traditional route seemed cumbersome.
Feel free to reach out to me using the contact form on this website! I'll do my best to check it frequently.
